Our vision is a world where helminth infections are no longer managed with a handful of ageing drugs, but with many safe, effective and resistance-aware treatments for humans and livestock.

We believe each major parasite should have a portfolio of active medicines, backups and combinations: enough therapeutic depth to treat species and life stages more precisely, slow the emergence of resistance, and support both public-health programmes and animal-health needs.

Helminthix exists to help make that future possible by connecting AI biopharma and biotech with parasitology research, functional genomics, high-throughput screening platforms, viability assays, medicinal chemistry, funders and partners in endemic regions.

Why this future has not existed before.

For decades, the economics of drug development favoured medicines with high prices, large commercial margins and repeatable sales in wealthy markets. Neglected tropical diseases were left at the edge of the system, even when the human need was vast.

Helminth infections affect some of the poorest communities in the world, and they also carry major livestock and One Health consequences. Yet the pipeline has remained thin because conventional commercial incentives have not rewarded the work.

Why it can exist now.

AI-enabled discovery, comparative genomics, automated phenotyping, improved parasite culture systems and modern screening infrastructure are changing the cost and speed of early drug discovery.

The opportunity is not simply to find one more anthelmintic. It is to build a renewable discovery engine for many worm diseases, many mechanisms and many partners, moving from functional genomics to drug targets, small molecules, combinations and translational readiness.

AI biopharma and biotech already have modelling systems, compound libraries, generative chemistry and platform discovery capacity. What is missing is the translation layer that lets these worlds work together productively.

WORMZERO is our challenge concept for broad-spectrum, resistance-aware helminth vulnerabilities. It asks how a focused programme could catalyse academia-industry teams, sentinel worm systems, shared assay standards, open data models and milestone-driven discovery around conserved vulnerability modules.

Helminthix is broader than any single challenge. We are building the organisation that can keep connecting AI-enabled discovery with parasitology, screening platforms and translational partners across the whole chain: from comparative biology and target nomination to small molecules, combinations, resistance-aware development and early clinical readiness.
